PLA+ is our exciting product that has been developed for over 8 months.
Here are some of the exciting new features at a glance;
- 10x stronger than PLA
- Australian approved food grade standard
- Better layer adhesion (brilliant for the first layer)
- Solid colours are vibrant and not opaque
- Resealable bag to avoid moisture issues for long-term storage
Our PLA+ has been independently tested by Intertek™ to be around 10 times stronger than our previous PLA. The two measures used were the Durometer Hardness (ASTM D2240) and Tensile Strength (ASTM D882), both showed excellent results. Rather than simply relying on theoretical results we also called upon some of our wonderful customers to conduct field tests, requesting feedback for iterative changes to the formula. Special thanks go to Stephen O, Adam P, Luke P and Daniel B.
We further conducted independent testing for Food Grade with the National Measurement Institute (Australian Government, Department of Industry, Innovation and Science) and also FDA (US Government Approved). Results both comply with the Australian and FDA standards (AS2070-1999 10/2011). The tests show that the filament is composed of safe ingredients that can come into contact with food products. There are however some important practical considerations when printing objects with food contact in mind.
- It is important that your printer, namely extruder and hotend/nozzle are also up to food grade standards. Typically, stainless steel parts provide the best measure to ensure food grade printing is not compromised. Brass nozzles are not recommended.
- Thorough cleaning of printed object is needed for repeated use over time. If you wish to repeatedly use a part, you must ensure that no food products remain even in the tiny gaps between each layer. Organic products remaining on the can rot over time and contaminate your food product on the next application.
Better Layer Adhesion:
Only the most cavalier 3D Printing Professionals do not wait for the first layer to complete before carefully walking away from a print job. Our PLA+ provides stronger adhesion to the base plate/material. This will help with fewer crossed fingers or pray to deities against failed prints right at the beginning of a job. This does not mean we guarantee 100% layer adhesion since it is dependent upon your print set up, but we designed PLA+ to give you an advantage in the fight for successful prints.
We’ve listened and actioned feedback from our wonderful customers that have demanded a more solid colour filament. Creating a solid colour filament is easy. It simply requires more concentration of dye. The consequence is that greater amount of dye tends to clog the nozzle more frequently. We don’t believe in selling cleaning filament to sweep up the problems of this issue. Instead, we have sourced an exclusive dye made in Taiwan that is both food grade and does not increase the instance of nozzle clogging.
Caring for our environmental footprint is everyone’s responsibility. Recycling is our best way to do this. We have changed our PLA+ filaments to come in free resealable bags that not only care for our planet but also help in warding off moisture damage to your precious filament. This enables them to last longer so they are not exposed to damage from humidity. As with all filaments, it is best to pack them away in the resealable bag when not in use and always keep the desiccant satchel inside the bag to absorb any remaining moisture.
- Love it! Review by michelle
I was using another brand of PLA+ at triple the price when I stumbled on this filament, and I have found it to be equally as good as the expensive brand. Absolutely love it, prints beautifully and is a great opaque finish. I'm begging for a PASTEL PINK!! (Posted on 20/01/2020)
- Perfect! Review by Matt
Extremely consistent filament, which prints perfectly for me the whole way through its temperature range.
Colours are excellent (silver and gold favourite). (Posted on 15/10/2019)
- Great Aussie Product Review by Brad
I love the PLA+ from 3DFillies.
It is awesome we have a great Aussie company taking on the world, and I have seen many reviews from people in the US loving the product.
As well as the speedy delivery.

- Production Quality Review by PrintingForge
I have been through over a hundred kilograms of PLA+ during the course of running my business and I have never been able to fault 3Dfillies product or service. I know if I place an order I can be assured that it will ship quickly and that the filament doesn’t vary from batch to batch. (Posted on 14/08/2019)
- As a newbie 3D printer, love 3DFillies PLA Review by Ron
After buying my first 3D printer, I decided to try 3DFillies as I’d read some good things about it. Could probably find marginally cheaper on eBay, but prefer to deal with a local company. The filament arrived quickly. I bought a roll of grey and one of blue. Both of them work really well and give great results. I printed a bunch of minis for my daughter and they came out great. She has since bought a 3D printer and she’s using 3DFillies too. Like me, she loves it. I really love the way the blue looks. Have just ordered more grey and blue, as well as a black. Thanks 3DFillies. Great product and service. (Posted on 20/07/2019)
- You know you are doing something right... Review by 3DMakerBase
You know you are doing something right or wrong, when a customer takes the time to write a review. You are doing something RIGHT 3DFillies! My first roll of PLA+ White, is up there with, even surpassing my favourite American filament (MakerShaper, which is closing its doors). The PLA+ color/shading is fantastic, not too much shine which gives a higher fidelity and depth to an object. With further calibration on my part, this will be a filament I will be coming back to time and time again. (Posted on 18/03/2019)
- The Best Filament I've Used So Far Review by Orpheus666
This is the good quality stuff. I've had bad experiences with the PLA included with my printers, average experiences with cheap no-name PLA from eBay, and have also tried Esun - which was decent. By far 3D Fillies is my favourite. I've been using the light grey on 4 of my machines and it's one smooth mother-fucker, so smooth in fact that ABS + acetone smoothing may be something that I won't really bother doing much of in the future, except for outdoor applications. If the quality remains consistent I'll stick with 3d Fillies. You had me at Pantone 5C. (Posted on 8/03/2019)
- Dissapointed Review by Steve
3D Fillies response:
Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback, we reached out to you in July 2018 with some troubleshooting tips and did not hear back from you. We are happy to continue troubleshooting with you if you would like to get in touch with us (however we note this is for a purchase made almost a year ago, so this may no longer be relevant).
I purchased several rolls of PLA+ one of which was the red color. from the word go the filament was prone to breaking 1 to 2 times per print. I contacted 3dFillies who told me that the reason was the way in which i was storing the filament and there was no possible way that it would be a faulty batch. I have printed with other colors of PLA+ without issue and pride myself on taking good care of my filaments having PLA filaments that are 18 months old that still print as well as the day they were purchased. Anyhow that's my 2 cents worth.

- Awesome Product, Great Price, Fast Delivery Review by Jeff
Today I received my fifth order from 3DFillies - a restock of five one kilogram rolls of Light Grey PLA+.
I ordered late on a Friday, and received them in the morning on the following Tuesday. Pretty good, considering I am in Canberra, the order came from Melbourne, and was routed through the post facility somewhere in... Sydney? OK, maybe someone needs to look at this, as this has happened with my previous shipments as well. If it hadn’t passed through Sydney, I may well have received it on the Monday, which is, essentially, next day service, for no extra cost.
I paid just shy of $115.00, for 5 kgs of PLA+, including free postage. This is far and away the best deal I can get on 3D filament in my area.
But what is the filament like?
It is simply the best PLA filament I have ever used. I’m running a TEVO Little Monster (delta machine) which has a large print area. I have found the PLA+ produces great prints, whether they be huge, or tiny. I have even printed off a few 32 mm scale, humanoid, figures, to a standard I am happy with - something that FDM printing is not reknown for, and something I have been unable to do with any other PLA filament I have previously used.
So, awesome filament, great price, and really fast delivery. What more do you want? (Posted on 5/02/2019)
- Great filament for AnyCubic i3 Mega Review by Eric
Strong colours, some unique to 3DF. Fantastic service from supplier always arrives within 3/4 days.
Best filament I've found for my AnyCubic i3 Mega. First layer adhesion is great, flows from the nozzle smoothly and lays down precisely. Not as brittle as some I've tried.
My filament of choice now.
Well done! (Posted on 13/11/2018)
- Red colour is *amazing* Review by Matt
This is the only red filament with a really deep red colour I have found. Prints are strong and clean with a great finish - absolutely no downsides in my view. (Posted on 30/10/2018)
- Smooth filament Review by Shaun
Black is super smooth. Gold is more a bronze colour than true gold but lays perfectly. Ender 3 at 210/60. Will definitely get more. (Posted on 24/10/2018)
- Good stuff. Review by Geoffrey
Did not notice any difference between this and the previous and only filament that I have previously used (Cocoon Create), for all I know they are the same, but it is alot cheaper.
One thing that I will say is that it would be good if the filament reels were wrapped carefully around the spool. (Posted on 13/07/2018)
- Great layer lines Review by Cameron
This filament is amazing! I have been using PLA+ for the past few days and the layers lines are practically invisible. The color is nice and uniform, and the bag is good. Shipping is fast and the filament is well priced. My go-to filament from now on! (Posted on 12/07/2018)
- Bloody amazing Review by Lachie
This is by far the best filament I've used. Prints great, very consistent diameter, great colour and strength. To top it off, this is the cheapest filament I can get from anywhere. I've ordered 8 rolls of filament (1 petg, 1 abs, 6 pla) from 3d fillies and use it almost exclusively. What are you waiting for, buy a roll or two, you won't regret it. Great work 3d fillies, keep it up! (Posted on 4/07/2018)
- Perfect, So Far. Review by Christopher
I've printed with the Purple PLA+ and Transparent Blue. Both printed perfectly and I had no issues. Resulting colours are sweet. For my home built CoreXY printer (V6 clone hot end) I used 210C printing over sugar water on glass was easy and results could not have been better.
Another bonus - the durable ziploc bags are great. As reported in my other review I'd suggest reworking the spools when next they are manufactured so that they use slots for tying loose ends rather than small holes (unless the intention is to waste material by breaking off ends). That's the only minor complaint I'd have. (Posted on 30/06/2018)
- Amazing Review by Gavin
3D Fillies is a amazing product been through 4 rolls just ordered 4 more tried a few other makers and none are as good as this stuff
You guys rock (Posted on 8/06/2018)
- Possible faulty roll Review by Jesse
Brought a few rolls and first time buying from 3dfillies , One of the the is warping horribly in an enclosed printer , i have experimented with it open and also will 6 or 7 different nozzle and bed temps , All my other fillament works fine where i have purchased elsewhere . Might just be unlucky tho (Posted on 27/05/2018)
- Impressed Review by Martin
I am working on a full size 3D printed R2D2, which involves is a very large amount of printing. I have gone through over 14kg of white PLA from four different brands with mixed success, most recently having switched to 3D Fillies.
The White 3D Fillies PLA+ has been great. No problems with bed adhesion under extrusion or layer adhesion that I had seen with some other brands.
I plan to complete the rest of my build exclusively using 3D Fillies PLA+. (Posted on 9/05/2018)

I've been using the 3DFillies filament from day 1. Great product, great price and most importantly great service.
And forgot to mention the fact these come in Re-Sealable bags.
Keep up the great work team! (Posted on 4/05/2018)
- Excellent Review by Ben
I've been using 3DFillies since I began printing back in mid 2015 and I have had no need to search anywhere else for other filament. Extremely happy with the quality all around. Cheers (Posted on 13/04/2018)
- Can't get enough of this good stuff!! Review by MatZilm
Got my first 3D printer at Christmas this year (2017) and it has opened my eyes to a whole world of possibilities. Unfortunately the printer only came with a few test pieces of filament.
Eager to print more things, I quickly did some hunting around to see where I could get my hands on a roll of filament.
First stop EBay. Whilst there were lots to choose from, I wasnt too sure what to get or what to expect of the quality... Then I noticed a 3Dfillies product for sale. Australian filament! Get out, who are these guys, so off to the website I went. Once I'd seen that the price was more or less the same as the cheep varietys on EBay, I was sold!
Not really knowing what the quality was going to be like, I took the plunge, and it was worth it! Not that I'd tried any other brands, but this stuff (black pla+) was amazing to work with!
I'm now 4months into printing and have started designing bespoke products for people on Tinkercad.
I'm now on my second roll of black pla+ and beginning a collection of other colours.
Personally I'm looking forward to a great future collecting all the colours and having them paid for by satisfied customers.
Proud to buy Australian and wishing all the people at 3Dfillies the very best for the future!!

- Best Lithophanes ever! Review by Phil
PLA+ Lithophane White
Have been printing quite a few Lithophanes with this. Very bright white in colour. Have even printed some up to 7mm thick in areas, and they look amazing!
Great job 3DFillies :) (Posted on 10/02/2018)
- Awesome Fillament - Yet to hear from customer support. Review by Mech3D
This PLA+ Is absolutely amazing fillament, its bed adhesion is excellent, the layers go down flawlessly and the finished results are just incredible. I was not expecting it to have as much strength as it does but I can tell you now, its very strong for PLA. Can't wait to try the PETG I've just recently ordered.
The packaging is amazing as well, the boxes are so clean and thick to protect the fillament and the reusable bags are awesome, 3dFillies you guys have just done an awesome job of producing and all round high quality product!
However if you guys could respond to my email that I sent on the 30/01/2018 in regards to the static properties of your PLA+ that would be great 11 days with no reply is pretty rough. Thanks. (Posted on 10/02/2018)
- PLA+ Lithophane White Review by Alan
Have been printing with PLA+ Lithophane white for the past 10 days and it's been printing so well. Much stronger than the ordinary PLA, but with just the right amount of translucency and excellent layer adhesion.
I print single wall objects as well as lithophanes up to 4mm thick. (Posted on 24/01/2018)
- White / Red / Blue PLA+ Review by Andrew M
Extruder temp: 215C first layer/210C subsequent layers
Bed temp: 25-50C
PLA+ exhibited much higher layer bonding, hardness and print quality/evenness over conventional PLA from various suppliers. Bed adhesion was very good over a range of bed temperatures (all with glue stick only, on glass). ABS slurry offered even better adhesion.
Small detail on parts was easy to achieve and there seemed to be less cooling issues with small details over conventional PLA.
Temperature towers showed a wide range of print performance from 185C to 230C with a minimum of stringing at the higher temps and slight dropoff in strength at lower temps.
So far it's difficult to find a negative for PLA+ to balance this review.

Worked great in the Dremel Idea Builder (no heated bed). Very clean and detailed finish. Much stronger than the standard PLA. (Posted on 9/01/2018)
- Awesome Filament Review by Aaron B
I have been printing with this filament for about 2 weeks now on all 3 of my printers, This Filament has now changed my mind when choosing filaments, I will now only choose PLA+ from 3DFillies, I am no longer buying any ABS as this PLA+ is doing an awesome job
I am printing with PLA+ Blue on 3x CR-10 - 0.4mm @ 210c first layer 205c second layer and 60c Bed, I have had no warping issues and all my prints are coming out great. the Bottom layer is showing a nice glass like finish(Love it) (Posted on 28/12/2017)
- So easy to print with Review by Matt
After some more tuning I’ve been able to get this to print at 190* and 55*. Prints come out great with a .4 nozzle. Sticks to the bed with ease and a little glue stick.
The finish is less glossy than standard pla which I like. Way better than standard pla to print with (Posted on 26/12/2017)
- Good stuff! Review by John
I got a roll of the grey and black and I've done a little printing with each. I used a 0.2mm nozzle with the grey to print some miniatures and after tweaking a few settings was very happy with the quality.
Now using the black I'm back to a 0.4mm and printing some larger objects. It lays down silky smooth and has a great looking finish. Will definitely be looking at the PLA+ again next time I need some filament. (Posted on 19/12/2017)
- Great filament Review by Matt
Received 4 rolls today 8/12/17. Only had to adjust extruder steps slightly nozzle temp 210* and it went down as smooth as butter! As always a great quality filament(s) and awesome service (Posted on 8/12/2017)
